Mike Farina, CPT

Mike Farina is a former Coast Guardsman who is deeply committed to the health and fitness level of our membership. Nationally certified as a Personal Trainer by the American College of Sports Medicine, Mike is best known around the club as the guy that rode his bicycle from Boston to San Diego., racking up 6,000 miles of travel along the way. Why? You’ll have to ask him. Mike spends most of his time at ZONE5 but when not here enjoys basketball and running. He lives in Wakefield, MA and lives to serve. If there’s anything we can do for you, Mike’s the guy to see.

Trainers

Jason Jarett, CPT

Originally from Lake George, NY (You should go visit at some point. Seriously.), Jason moved to the Boston area to pursue a career in the health and fitness industry as a personal trainer. He has a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Connecticut and is also a graduate from the Boston branch of the American Academy of Personal Training. Certified through the American College of Sports Medicine, Jason has a passion for helping others better themselves physically and mentally due to his own fitness/weight loss journey. He specializes in strength training as well as high intensity interval training. Outside of the gym, he enjoys movies, sports and obstacle racing including the Warrior Dash, Tough Mudder and all three Spartan Races.

Sarah Lucas, CPT, MS

Sarah holds a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Penn State University as well as a Master’s in Health & Physical Education from Boston University. She is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and a certified Spinning instructor. Sarah worked in the athletic department at Boston University as well as with the Boston Breakers of the Women’s Professional Soccer League. In addition to her experience as a group exercise instructor, personal trainer and Spinning instructor, Sarah also teaches Circuit Training and Seniors Weight Training classes and is a running coach for the Boston Children’s Hospital marathon team. She’s completed six marathons herself and as a figure skater growing up, competed in eight National Championship competitions. If it has to do with fitness, Sarah’s your girl.

Kadeja Gaines

Kadeja, originally from Germany, recently moved to Boston from Minneapolis to work for Nike. She graduated from the University of Norte Dame where she majored in psychology and German. Kadeja is a RIPPED certified instructor and a certified group fitness instructor through the National Exercise Trainers Association. Kadeja grew up competing in track and field, gymnastics, and dance. As a high school sprinter, Kadeja competed in the American-European championships. She played competitive flag football after college but this was cut short due to a major ACL injury. Her recovery from this injury is what originally inspired her to coach and mentor others through fitness.

Other than training, Kadeja loves salsa dancing, trivia nights, celebrity gossip, and bad puns… like really corny ones that she loves busting out in class from time to time!

Julianne Cappello

Growing up as a dancer, Julianne has always had a passion for movement and an appreciation for health and fitness. While studying at Suffolk, Julianne was a member and captain of the Suffolk University Dance Team (SUDC) for all four years.  Throughout her dance career, she participated in competitions both at a young age and during her college career with her teammates on SUDC. Julianne initially joined ZONE5 as a member, but after becoming enthusiastically devoted (some may say addicted) to the high intensity interval training, it wasn’t long before she was an instructor herself. Julianne is also a business development director at a marketing firm in Downtown Boston and can relate to the clientele looking for a release or escape from the stresses of work. She makes sure her classes leave everyone feeling accomplished and stress free.
